La fille mal gardee – Spring Repertoire Concert
A playful ballet classic with comedy, love and levity
In the spring Mankato Ballet Company features our Performing Company dancers in a full-length ballet. Past productions include Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and A Midsummer’s Eve.
We are very proud to announce our 2026 spring repertoire production will be La fille mal gardee. This version set by Eryn Michlitsch, Benjamin Johnson, Ashley Burkland and Rebekah Selvey is a two act version of the famous ballet featuring Ferdinand Herold’s famous score created specifically for this ballet. The ballet was inspired by Pierre-Antoine Baudouin’s 1765 painting, La réprimande.
La fille mal gardée, translates to “the poorly guarded girl” and is a story about a widow who is trying to marry off her daughter to a rich man’s son. Her daughter, Lise, is in love with a young man named Colas from her town. Through some funny situations they end up sneaking out to meet each other and avoid the arranged marriage her mother wants for her.
Enjoy this charmingly comedic light hearted ballet classic with its recognizable music, delicate dancing, and beautiful color.

Advanced Ticket Prices: $15 for Adults, $12 for children 12 and under
Children 2 and under are free, but must sit on a lap. All seats are general admission.
At the Door Ticket Prices: Cash Payment $15 for ALL tickets or Credit Card Payment $20 for Adults and $15 for Children

MBC students may get a FREE ticket voucher to attend. One free voucher for one paid adult. To get your voucher please show your confirmation email to our Office Staff and they will give you a voucher. This can also be done at the theater upon arrival. These vouchers are ONLY good for the Mankato East production on March 7th.
