Welcome to the MBC Alumni Corner

MBC has been part of the Mankato Community for over 40 years and in that time we have instructed thousands of dancers.
We love to hear from our alumni and encourage them to visit, see performances, volunteer, donate, take classes etc.
Over the years our relationship with our Alumni has grown and so has our studio and programming. To foster our relationship with Alumni, but still give primary focus to our currently enrolled students we have put together some guidelines for Alumni that return to MBC and wish to continue their dance journey with us through classes.
Policies for Alumni within 4 years of High School Graduation
Many of our Alumni go off to college and want to pop back into MBC for the summer to see friends. A large number pursue dance in college and need to maintain their technique. Regardless of your college major, Alumni are allowed to come back to MBC and take the following classes for FREE within 4 years of their high school graduation:
- Ballet classes held during Thanksgiving Break
- Ballet classes held during Holiday Break
- Ballet classes held during Spring Break
- Ballet classes held during Summer Sessions (Company Crash Course is NOT open to Alumni)
Alumni wishing to take classes other than ballet classes should reach out to the Artistic Director or Assistant Director and will be allowed to attend at their discretion during the times listed above.
Policies for Alumni outside of 4 years of High School Graduation
Alumni who have graduated from MBC and want to come back to enjoy classes are encouraged to enroll in any of our Open Teen/Adult Classes. Alumni may not enroll in our regular season classes with the youth. Alumni that are enrolled fulltime in our Teen/Adult classes and wish to perform will have the performance fee waived, but are subject to any additional rehearsal fees needed to set the dance. If Alumni wish to take classes other than what is listed on the Teen/Adult Schedule they must follow these rules:
- They must get permission for the Artistic Director or Assistant Director 24 hours before attending that class
- Pending approval from the Artistic Director or Assistant Director these occasional classes will be free for alumni
- They may not take any class regularly as these classes are for paying students and should not be subject to regular outside attendance of Alumni or Staff taking their classes
Taking regular season classes with the students is permitted more regularly for ballet classes since they have multiple classes per week. Supplementary classes are less likely to receive approval as instructors are more likely to be working on recital dances and may need the time to focus on the students. Hence the 24 our approval needed. Please do not show up the day of the class as this often causes the instructor to shift their entire plans for the day.
Teen/Adult Open Classes for 2024/25 Season
Dress Code for Teen/Adult Classes
While this isn’t part of our regular class division MBC Teen/Adult Open Classes do still have a dress code. Adults attending may adopt a more informal dress code, but are encouraged to have their hair pulled back, and to have ballet slippers. Yoga wear, leggings, tank tops etc. are all acceptable.
