About MBC
Our emphasis is on the traditional role of classical dance as a performing art. Our teachers are experienced and professional instructors in traditional ballet, modern, tap and jazz dance. The school offers classes for children preschool age to adult. Students improve their posture, coordination, rhythm, flexibility, self-control, self-confidence and poise. These assets also shape the dancer’s ability to pursue exemplary personal, educational and career goals.

History
The Mankato Ballet Company began in 1983 with a group of interested students and their families. The concept of ballet instruction in Mankato grew and the group incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1987. It is now recognized as one of the leading schools of ballet instruction in Minnesota.
Mission
Mankato Ballet Company’s mission is to nurture, encourage and challenge students to achieve their potential for artistry and self-confidence through the classical dance experience.
Goals
The Mankato Ballet Company holds to several organizational goals that not only better our students, but our community.
- To bring the art of dance to youth that may not otherwise get to experience it
- To bring awareness of the art of dance to our community
- To share the art of dance through performance
- To produce dancers with the technique and knowledge of the art of dance so they may pass it on to others
- To be a positive learning environment for our students
MBC Studio Calendar
Nutcracker Agreements
Dancers in Ballet 1A and higher and have had at least some dance experience are eligible to perform in The Nutcracker through our audition process.

Fall Open House
We invite MBC families and the community to celebrate with us on Thursday, August 20th at the studio. We will have food, performances, and MBC info available from 5pm to 7pm.
Fall Classes Begin

MEA Week
We DO have classes.
Bring a Friend to Dance Week
Dancers in Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Pre-Tap and Pre-Jazz are welcome to bring a friend to class with them October 25-31. Friends and dancers are also allowed to dress up in their costumes as long as they can still dance and move.
Halloween
We DO NOT have classes.
Thanksgiving Break
Break will run Tuesday through Saturday and classes will resume on the Monday following Thanksgiving. We WILL have class on Monday, November 23rd to account for us starting classes on a Tuesday in September.
The Nutcracker

Holiday Break
Break will run Monday, December 14th through Sunday, January 3rd.
Classes resume on Monday the 4th as usual.

Performing Company Concert
The Performing Company Concert will be held on March 6th, 2027. Performances are at East High School and tickets can be purchased through our website or at the door. MBC students each receive a FREE ticket with a paid adult.
Spring Break
Break runs Monday, March 22nd through Saturday, March 27th
Classes resume on Monday, March 29th.
Observation Week
MBC Observation Week will be begin Saturday, April 17th and run through Friday, April 23rd. Parents are invited to attend their dancer’s classes that week to observe what they have learned, see their recital dance and receive important performance information.
Picture Week
MBC Picture Week will be begin Saturday, April 24th and run through Friday, April 30th. Pictures will be taken during regularly scheduled class time during the week. Dancers will be dressed in their recital costumes and have individual and group photos taken.
Performing Company and Ensemble Auditions
Performing Company Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 1st. The audition class is from 12:00-2:00pm. Dancers between 11-18 who meet the requirements and will be enrolling as a student in the fall of 2025 may audition. Click here for more info. Ensemble Auditions will be held Saturday, May 1st from 11:00-11:45am.
Spring Recital and Dress Rehearsal
Beauty will be featured in May 15th and 16th of 2027. A Dress Rehearsal will take place on Friday, May 14th. Details will be communicated closer to the event.
Last Day of Classes
Classes conclude the week of the performance. There are NO classes after the recital.
